Arden Stud - Performance ponies with outstanding temperaments.
A stud based on a love for the Connemara Pony and the privilege of providing pony partners for riders and fellow enthusiasts.
After a lifetime as an equestrian and an extended family involved in equestrian sports, when it came time for our own children to ride, the choice of a Connemara was easy - safety was a priority. The breed is renowned for their versatility, ease of care and hardiness; and with outside careers and a full family life, a pony that made ownership enjoyable was ideal. Performance mattered though, so our stud is based on bloodlines that have a history of success in jumping and dressage.
A stud focused on temperament and rideability: where the desire for performance success is matched with a commitment to breed ponies with temperaments that make ownership a thing of joy.
A Stud situated near Gympie, Qld, the northern region of the Sunshine Coast.
A stud built on the bloodlines of Glenormiston Stud established by Sue and Barton Clarke.
It is appropriate to acknowledge the mentorship provided by the late Sue Clarke of Glenormiston Stud in establishing the foundation of Arden Stud. There is no doubt that Sue played a key role of the success of the Connemaras in Australia. She imported the very best of ponies from Ireland, England and Denmark and was generous in her broad knowledge and understanding of the breed. She was awarded the inaugural Michael O’Malley Award for her dedication to the Connemara pony and the foundation mares of Arden carry the bloodlines of her four most significant stallions (pictured in order below): Domo Cavallo Praize, Oxenholm Gideon, Abbeyleix Finbar and Gneevebrack Storm.
